I went to Andalusia (Southern Spain) in March, on the Orange Blossom of Seville group tour. This covered Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Ronda. Seeing Seville at Easter was incredible, as they have huge parades through town to celebrate Holy Week with massive brass bands and hundreds of people in Penitence hoods carrying effigies of Christ and the Virgin Mary each day, a foreboding but fascinating sight. The magnificent Alhambra Palace in Granada was also amazing. It’s the ancestral home of Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII’s first wife, and is full of Moorish architecture and the most incredible decoration and has been a home of Kings and royal families for centuries. Southern Spain is also the home of Flamenco dancing, so there is always lots of vibrant shows to watch. If you want to see medieval cities with amazing architecture and pretty streets, dozens of museums, street art, great Tapas and live music – Andalusia has it all!
