A Journey Through Japan’s Autumn Colours
I have always loved travelling to Japan. There’s something magical about this country—its incredible culture, its deep and ancient history, and its breathtaking natural scenery. Every time I return, I’m reminded why it remains one of my favourite places.
My most recent group trip took place in October and November 2024, right as Japan’s famous golden autumn colours began to appear. There’s nothing quite like watching the leaves shift into brilliant reds and golds while exploring temples, cities, and gardens that seem to exist in harmony with the seasons.
What I adore most about Japan is just how culturally unique it is. There is truly nowhere else like it. One moment you’re standing under the neon glow of a bustling city street, surrounded by futuristic robot shops and quirky cafés. The next, you’re strolling through tranquil traditional gardens or wandering the quiet paths of a national park. From the elegant, mysterious world of the Geisha to the ultra-modern energy of Tokyo, Japan blends the ancient and the futuristic in a way that feels seamless.
Our journey began in Tokyo, the vibrant capital that never seems to pause. We enjoyed a guided tour of the city, taking in its iconic landmarks and getting a taste of its dynamic rhythm. From there, we travelled to the contrasting ancient capital of Kyoto—a place of timeless beauty, where stunning temples, Zen gardens, and centuries-old traditions still thrive.
Along the way, we visited the emotionally powerful Hiroshima Peace Park, a place that leaves a lasting mark on anyone who walks through it. We also explored the peaceful natural beauty found throughout Japan, including its serene parks and beautifully designed gardens. One of the highlights was visiting Nara Deer Park, where I had the chance to feed the tame deer that roam freely—an experience that felt both surreal and heartwarming.
If you’re looking for a journey that feels truly different—somewhere that blends kindness, beauty, history, and modernity—Japan should absolutely be on your travel list. Every visit reminds me of the warmth of the Japanese people and the astonishing diversity of experiences this country offers.
And for me? I know I’ll be back again. Japan has a way of calling you back.
