Our Turkish Getaway – Summer in Side
In August, we packed our bags and jetted off for a much-needed summer break in Turkey – and what a fantastic holiday it turned out to be!
We spent 14 nights as a family at the Side Star Resort, just outside the beautiful town of Side, staying on an All Inclusive basis.
The Resort
Our home for two weeks was a spacious two-bedroom family room with a stunning sea view. From our balcony, we could look out across the pool and beyond to the Mediterranean – a sight that became even more magical at sunset. The room had everything we needed to feel comfortable and relaxed, making it perfect for a family break.
Exploring Side Old Town
One of the highlights of our trip was wandering through Side Old Town. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it completely surprised me. With cobbled streets, ancient ruins, and charming little shops, it had an atmosphere that felt more like a quaint Austrian village than a Turkish coastal town. We loved the unique blend of history, culture, and retail therapy – a place that truly had something for everyone.
A Night at Land of Legends
Another memorable evening was spent at the Land of Legends. This place was so much more than we imagined – immaculately clean, lined with luxury shops, and bursting with entertainment. The night-time light show was absolutely magical, creating a family evening we’ll never forget. If you’re ever in the area, it’s a must-see!
Final Thoughts
Turkey truly stole our hearts. From the sunshine, delicious food, and warm hospitality to the breathtaking scenery and fascinating history, it was an unforgettable experience. And of course, let’s not forget the shopping – my top tip is to take an empty suitcase because you’ll definitely need it!
Would we go back? Without a doubt. Side gave us memories to last a lifetime, and we’re already dreaming about our next visit.
