Loz’s Tunisia Escape
We escaped the grey days of November with a five-day break to Djerba, Tunisia, and it turned out to be exactly what we needed. Swapping cold skies for warm sunshine and blue horizons, it felt as though winter had been placed firmly on pause. The slower pace of life made it easy to unwind from the moment we arrived.
One of the absolute highlights of the trip was heading south on a jeep excursion across the desert. It was an unforgettable day that took us through traditional Berber villages and to Tataouine, offering a fascinating glimpse into local culture and history. What made the experience even more special was visiting several iconic Star Wars filming locations.
As my partner Martin is a huge Star Wars fan, seeing the landscapes that doubled as a galaxy far, far away was a real bucket-list moment. Even if you’re not a superfan, the scenery alone is breathtaking — endless stretches of sand, dramatic desert views, and a genuine sense of adventure that stays with you long after the day ends.
Djerba itself was relaxed and incredibly welcoming, with a laid-back atmosphere that made it perfect for a short escape. Overall, the trip was fantastic value for money and ideal for anyone craving winter sun and a change of scenery. Just a few days away gave us sunshine, adventure, and memories we’ll be talking about for a long time.
