My Experience Aboard Cunard’s Queen Anne: A Modern Take on Classic Elegance
I recently sailed on Cunard’s newest ship, the Queen Anne, and absolutely loved the experience. With a more modern and contemporary design compared to the line’s traditional ships, Queen Anne offers a fresh take on classic ocean travel while still retaining that unmistakable Cunard charm.
My seven-night Northern European cruise departed from Southampton, with stops in Hon fleur, Bruges, Delft, and Rotterdam. The ship, having launched only recently, felt wonderfully new and immaculate throughout. I had booked an inside cabin and expected it might feel dark or confined — but to my surprise, it was both comfortable and luxurious, a perfect retreat after busy days of exploration.
That said, I didn’t spend much time in my cabin. There’s simply too much to enjoy on board! Sea days were spent browsing the shops, relaxing in the stylish bars and cosy lounges with a good book, or heading out on deck for a game of shuffleboard or paddle tennis (when it wasn’t too chilly). The spa was another highlight — beautifully designed and utterly relaxing.
Dining was a delight from start to finish. The food was excellent, and the staff were incredibly attentive, even accommodating my special dietary needs with ease. Evenings were made memorable by the ship’s talented entertainment team, offering a great variety of singers, musicians, and comedians.
One of my favourite traditions was afternoon tea — complete with gleaming, white-gloved staff who were ceremoniously applauded as they entered to music. It was a charming and quintessentially Cunard moment that perfectly captured the line’s blend of grandeur and hospitality.
The ports of call were equally magical. Travelling in December meant I got to experience the festive beauty of Bruges and Delft, where twinkling lights and traditional Christmas markets brought an extra touch of magic to the historical scenery.
Overall, my first cruising experience aboard Queen Anne was everything I hoped for and more — a perfect mix of modern comfort, timeless elegance, and unforgettable destinations. I can’t wait to set sail with Cunard again!
