My Norwegian Fjords Adventure with P&O Cruises
I’ve just returned from an unforgettable cruise through the Norwegian Fjords aboard P&O Cruises’ Iona, and I’m excited to share some of the highlights from my trip.
Scenic Ports and Bucket List Moments
One of the most memorable experiences was visiting Olden, where I joined a guided Troll Car tour to the breathtaking Briksdal Glacier. Surrounded by waterfalls and dramatic mountain scenery, it was truly a bucket list moment.
Other ports offered their own unique charm:
- In Stavanger, I visited the striking Three Swords Monument at Hafrsfjord.
- In Haugesund, I took in the views at the Fisherman’s Memorial.
- I didn’t ride the Flåm Railway on this trip, but it’s a popular option for anyone looking to explore Norway’s countryside and waterfalls by train.
Life Onboard Iona
When I wasn’t out exploring, I was making the most of everything Iona has to offer. I spent a blissful two hours in the spa’s thermal suite, enjoyed a delicious dinner at Sindhu, and danced the night away at the SkyDome’s silent disco.
I also loved Celebration Night — the perfect excuse to dress up and enjoy a special evening on board.
Entertainment and Family Fun
There was plenty to keep everyone entertained:
- The Reef’s Club is ideal for children and teens (ages 2–17).
- Ocean’s Studio offers a great selection of films.
- The SkyDome transforms from a pool area by day to a stunning entertainment space in the evening, with impressive aerial performances.
Dining Highlights
With eight restaurants on board, I was spoiled for choice. From casual meals to fine dining, there was something for every taste and occasion.
If you’re thinking about exploring the Norwegian Fjords, I’d highly recommend cruising on Iona. The mix of breathtaking scenery, exciting excursions, and onboard luxury made this an experience I won’t forget.
