Pendle Witches, Warlocks & Fireworks
Earlier in November, I had the pleasure of escorting a lovely small group of passengers on a four-day coach tour through Lancashire and Yorkshire on our Pendle Witches Tour, a trip full of history, good company, and plenty of memorable moments.
Day 1 – Haunted Beginnings
We set off from Staffordshire and made our way to Samlesbury Hall, one of Britain’s most famously haunted buildings. The group enjoyed hearing about the history and legends as we wandered through the old halls. After a light lunch, we continued to our base for the tour—the wonderful Gibbon Bridge Hotel, where everyone settled in before gathering for dinner.
Day 2 – Witches, Valleys & a Master Storyteller
After breakfast, we met our local guide for the day, the fantastic storyteller Simon Entwistle. His knowledge of the Ribble Valley and the gripping tales of the Pendle Witches brought the landscape vividly to life.
We stopped in Clitheroe for lunch, giving passengers time to explore the charming streets before returning to the Gibbon Bridge for another relaxed evening meal.
Day 3 – Skipton & Bonfire Night Magic
We crossed into Yorkshire to visit the market town of Skipton, where passengers enjoyed free time to explore its castle, priory, shops, cobbled high street and market.
That evening, the Gibbon Bridge put on a wonderful Bonfire Night celebration—mulled wine, sparklers, and a beautiful firework display. We rounded it off with Lancashire hot pot and sticky toffee pudding back inside the hotel.
Day 4 – Browsholme Hall & Homeward Bound
For our final morning, we visited Browsholme Hall in the Forest of Bowland for a guided tour through its fascinating history.
After a lunch stop on the journey home, we returned to Staffordshire late afternoon, everyone in great spirits after a delightful few days together.
Travelling with such a friendly group made the tour a real pleasure, and the combination of storytelling, scenery, and warm hospitality at the Gibbon Bridge made it one to remember. Looking forward to the next adventure already!
